Vickie Gest is the managing director of VizPoets and works as a Producer on Documentary and Drama projects. VizPoets short dramas can all be bought on DVD (NTSC and PAL) via the Pay Pal site. The documentaries all have links to the Distributors web pages. With a strong interest in independent films with 'something to say', Over My Dead Body was Vickie's first collaboration with the ABC. The film deals with the pending human tissue trade in Australia. It explores how donated dead bodies are recycled to create new biotech products and reveals who is making a profit from this seemingly free gift. Vickie has recently finished two half-hour documentaries for Film Australia and the ABC in association with Freshwater Productions. Rare Chicken Rescue is a film that explores the wonderful and quirky side of poultry fanciers around Australia through the main participant, Mark Tully. The second film Roller Derby Dolls follows the resurgence of Roller Derby in Australia by a group of Brisbane alternate women. Vickie's earlier work includes short dramas such as Ascension, Hole in the Wall, Bad Ass Mono-Winged Angel, Other People, The Kangaroo and Faithless. Her films have been nominated and won numerous awards including Best Film, Best Script, Best Comedy, Best Cinematography, Best Independent Film, Best Producer, Best Actress and Best Musical Score. The films have screened both locally and internationally at more than 220 festivals in total. Vickie has been a supervising producer and executive producer on eight short films with Qpix (QLD Screen Resource Centre).
