Rare Chicken Rescue has been nominated for 5 categories at the AFI (Australian Film Institute).The categories are best documentary, best director, best dop, best sound and best editing. The Awards night is held on the 5th and 6th December 2008.

The film was also nominated at the prestigious panda awards at the Wildscreen Festival for  the Animal Planet International People and Animal Awards in October 2008.

The film was also nominated for 2 ATOM Awards for October 24th 2008.
